They have a noticeably richer flavour and more buttery texture than the Asian nuts, which are harder and not as good. These Italian pine nuts are truly premium quality. These particular pine nuts are ally grown under the southern Italian slopes of Etna on fertile volcanic soil. The kernel has a more elongated shape than those grown in China. They are soft and the flavour is creamy, sweet and delicate. They can be eaten straight from the packet or alternatively the pine nuts can be sprinkled onto a non-stick pan and gently toasted over the heat from the stove. These unroasted kernels are so soft they can easily be squashed with the back of a spoon!
