Simpson Aluminum Series 4200 PSI Gas Pressure Washer, 4.0 GPM, Honda GX390

My unit arrived in absolutely perfect condition, secured to a small pallet and delivered by R&L Carriers. Assembly was straightforward and only required that the handle be attached using the provided hardware. After reading other reviews, I took a few minutes to check nuts and bolts on the frame and did find some that needed to be tightened a bit. I took special care not to over tighten anything since the frame is made of aluminum. The engine mounting bolts were all secure and didn’t require any additional adjustment. I poured in the supplied quart of AMSOIL, removed the vent plug from the pump as described in the manual and added fuel. This unit is the real deal! After a 30 minute washing session of my block retaining wall at medium throttle, I shut the unit down and gave a quick visual inspection of the engine and pump to check for leaks or anything abnormal. I then connected my neighbors commercial surface washer and cleaned my driveway and sidewalk. This unit supplied more than enough pressure and GPM to get the job done. The supplied 50’ hose is fairly stiff as reviews have stated but I’m sure it’s extremely durable. I will likely purchase a 100’ hose like I used with the surface washer in the future. I highly recommend this unit for anyone who needs more than just the “average” pressure washer. I was tired of being disappointed with my old washer.

Bought this one to replace my Generac 420cc, haven't had it very long yet. I can tell you it starts much easier then the generac and has a lot of power. I also really like that the pump has a relief valve on it so if left running too long with out use it will spout off some pressure. Now I will say, my one gripe is with the delivery. Obviously this thing is heavy, but please do not roll my package end over end because you're too lazy or unequipped to move a large package.

I used to power wash houses professionally for many years and this was the go-to power washer to get the job done. Plenty of power and flow to wash any house. Also good for decks, sidewalks, and anything needs a good scrub. Don't go cheap on a power washer and it will save you a lot of time. Very consistent use and runs like a champ, season after season.

I read the negative reviews that described damage during shipment attributed to inadequate packaging with some trepidation, but based on the number of positive reviews and my certainty that the equipment in and of itself was first class I chose to place the order. I never suspected that anyone would ship a thirteen-hundred-dollar piece of equipment in a single ply cardboard box with no reinforcement or protection and can say without question that I have never received anything so ridiculously packaged in my seventy years on this earth. I inspected the box for damage when it arrived and noted no obvious damage but upon opening the lid it was obvious that the protection it afforded would equate to shipping several dozen eggs in a Ziploc bag, The photos speak for themselves. The aluminum mounting plate is so badly bent that the engine mounting bolts nearly pulled through the plate and the aluminum tubing "frame" is similarly damaged. I spent over an hour and used forty yards of shrink wrap just to get the unit repackaged well enough to survive being picked up by UPS for return. I have chosen to receive a refund rather than take a chance on a replacement unit.

The product came 6 days early so thank you to Amazon and Simpson for making that happen. The product and unit is very nice. It’s not as heavy as I thought and it looks professional. I’ve only heard good things about how efficient and well it works, so I’m very excited to use this and get started with using it for my business.

This machine is a beast. Plenty of power to spare and the soap nozzle works better than any other Ive personally owned. Well built and powered by Honda so you know it will last!!

I just received my Simpson pressure washer today. I'll get to the machine in a minute, but first the delivery. I used the Amazon scheduled delivery. The appointment was a Saturday morning between 6am-9am. The carrier was XPOLogistic. The driver called 30 minutes ahead, and arrived at 7:30am. There were two men in the truck, and they carried this heavy box all the way from the truck into my garage. They were very nice guys, very professional, and if i could give them 10 stars I would. Now, the machine. Honda engine, Cat pump, aluminum frame...can't complain about any of that. I will complain about a few things, however. 1) Why on Earth would Simpson package a $1300 pressure washer in a flimsy .50 cent cardboard box? This box would be fine for say, shipping cotton balls, or feather pillows. For a 120lb machine, you use a serious box. 2)The wand. Nice brass quick coupler, nice chrome finish on the outside. The inside of the wand, however, is full of rust pits. Rust just waiting to clog my tips, not to mention that it will rust completely through in no time. 3)The oil. Ok, the fact that Simpson supplies the engine oil is nice, however, they send a Simpson house brand of oil (in a strange little bag) that has no API rating listed on it. I'm sorry, but for all I know that oil is 20 years old and doesn't meet the specs for my brand new Honda GX390. I'll be buying the proper oil and saving the Simpson oil for starting a camp fire or something, it will never be used in any engine I own. I have not even started this machine yet (want to get fresh gas first), but once I do, I'll update the review. UPDATE: I bought a quart of Mobile 1 full synthetic 10w30 at the parts house, along with a bottle of Star Tron Enzyme fuel treatment to counteract the ethanol in the gasoline. The engine took exactly one quart of oil to fill. Connect the water supply, purge the air out of the Cat pump. Turn the gas on, full throttle, full choke, two pulls on the rope to prime the fuel system. Then, turn the ignition on, pull the rope one time and the engine starts and runs like a dream. Let me tell you, this machine(ALH4240) is a BEAST. The water pressure and flow are impressive. It will knock you off balance if you're not ready when you pull the trigger. It easily cleaned my filthy driveway. I'm afraid it might actually be too much machine for my needs. I think the average homeowner would find this to be too powerful for household chores. I had no issues with water or oil leaks like in some other reviews. I had no issues with vibration like in other reviews. The only way I can see to improve the machine would be to install longer "wheelbarrow" style handles to make it easier to move around. I bumped it up to four stars (after initially rating it three) because of the performance of the machine. The accessories and packaging still need to be improved.

This is my third Simpson pressure washer. They’re all fantastic machines this time I bought the GX 390 I needed something I could keep up with the amount of washings. I’m doing with my business. Highly recommended.
