KanPas Automotive Compass Ball for Car or Boat

We live where there are alot of circle & curvy streets. Can be difficult to navigate. Know what direction you are going is a necessity. Bought this for my wife. She loves it. Says it helps her out daily.

This compass absolutely did not work for me. It did not work in the car, it did not work in the house, it did not work on the lawn, it did not work in a box, it did not work with a fox. I do not like it Sam I Am. The KanPas “compass” that I received was, in point of fact, NOT a compass at all. Why? Because it proclaimed that I was *always* facing the same direction, no matter which direction I was actually facing. (The KanPas compass devoutly asserted that all directions would ever and always be SSE. Praise be to SSE. All glory to the eternal SSE. Thanks be to the almighty SSE. Amen.) A compass has *one* very simple job to do, which is to detect and respond to the Earth’s natural magnetic fields and clearly display that reaction thereby providing the user with a consistent sense of direction. If it performs this simple job, we can rightly call it a “compass.” Important Note: It is okay if the sense of direction provided by a compass is based on magnetic north rather than “true” north, so long as the compass consistently detects magnetic north. The floaty ball object I received did not do this. Executive Summary: The KanPas “compass” I received (by proclaiming ALL directions ever and always to be SSE) was not only an abject failure as a compass, it was, in actual fact, NOT a compass at all. Because of its inability to perform the one simple job of a compass (to detect and respond to the Earth’s natural magnetic fields and clearly display this reaction, thereby providing the user with a consistent sense of direction) the KanPas object I was sent, although labeled a “compass” by the company, was not, in fact, a compass. It was a floaty ball thing that *looked like* compass. Thank you for reading.

First off, this is the best compass for the $ you can buy, others are far more expensive. I mounted this incorrectly and it impacted its ability to accurately tell direction. This was unknown to me at the time so I reached out. The seller was responsive, incredibly nice and very helpful. He corrected me on what I was doing wrong and asked I check to see if it helps. I got so busy with work that I wasn't able to check for a couple of days. The seller took it upon himself to issue a 50% refund, maybe assuming things didn't work out. This gesture is so kind, I had to leave a review calling it out. Now I have to buy more stuff from him as a thank you :)

I have a 2023 Toyota Sienne and the compass works best between the shifting lever and the box behind it that has a cover on it. t is very accurate and easy to use. I could not find a place on the dash that would give the correct reading. Overall I am very happy with it. Not so happy about Toyota not having a compass built in the van.

I kept trying to work with this compass to try and find ANY place in my car this would work on a consistent basis. If I had it in my hand in front of me, it worked. Then I would put it on the dash and it would work that day, but then it would go back to the "northeast" direction and wouldn't move passed that, even when I went in a circle in the parking lot. By the time I figured this was NOT going to work, it was beyond my 30 days, so I could not return it. Im suspecting that the bluetooth and wifi in my car was causing the issues, as I needed both for my navigation system (dongle). May interfere with the magnetic field.

Attractive appearance and size. Six month warranty per the vendor. Overall, one of the better low-end compasses here. But because of electrical interfere in vehicles, buying any of them is throwing good money after bad and this one costing more than the others doesn't help. Jumps around excessively while driving and direction is too inaccurate. Not illuminated so effectively useless at night. Even so, I've always wanted one of these and would still consider keeping it for half of what it cost since it's better than nothing. Only real solution is spending a bundle on an OEM rear view mirror with a digital compass built in.

Returned to Amazon. Dashboard errors were too numerous. The unit works great. However, the metal in my dashboard caused problems

Tried three different products from this manufacturer and all three were inaccurate by almost 25-30 degrees consistently, as compared to an i-phone compass app which is dead-on. Don't bother with this one folks!

Very bad quality it's not accurate and seems not designed for Middle East regions

The compass did not work anywhere inside our vehicle. It works fine outside and away from vehicle. It did not work as advertised.

It doesn't work! North is not north on this compass. I bought it for my daughter to put in her vehicle so very disappointing. I waited too long so I can't return it now
