Join internationally renowned fashion illustrator Megan Hess as she explores the timeless beauty and glamour of ten of France's best-loved designers in a stylish celebration of one of the world's favorite fashion destinations. From the courts of Versailles to the cobbled streets of Paris, French fashion has always been the epitome of elegance. Whether it's Dior's New Look, Yves Saint Laurent's Le Smoking jacket or Chanel's little black dress, the masters of French fashion understand that clothing is more than a craft: it's an art form. Megan Hess's love for French style sparked her career in fashion illustration. In these pages, she unspools the threads of ten legendary designers – Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Givenchy, Chloé, Balmain, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Celine – to discover the origins of haute couture, prêt-à-porter and everything chic. Accompanied by Megan's exquisite illustrations of current and archival collections, Elegance: The Beauty of French Fashion tells the story of how France's iconic fashion houses have influenced the very fabric of design. Review: “Elegance” by Megan Hess = Another Fashionista’s French Treat! - I am a serious collector of Megan Hess’ fashion illustration books. She is a iconic in fashion illustration and I have 6 of her books proudly displayed in my glass bookcase! “Elegance: The Beauty of French Fashion” is an amazing addition to the other books I treasure. She has taken ten famous French Fashion Houses, illustrated the fashions they are famous for producing, the historical designs that put each house on the map and has also researched and written about each fashion house and the legendary designers behind them. This volume contains the following designers : Chanel (buy her book “Coco Chanel” for more information on the fashionista herself), Dior, Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Givenchy, Chloe, Balmain, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Celine. Each picture is divine and is worth every penny if you love France, wish you were a Paris Fashionista, love Fashion History, Art History or are a wannabe Francophile, this is your book! Thank you Megan for another lovely Review: For the Fashion lover - This was a gift for a friend that loves fashion. It did not disappoint.

A Treasure
I LOVE Megan Hess! I have collected all of her books, they are smaller in size and are full of fun information. Megan has a impeccable talent, in art and writing and keeps me mesmerized, I read the book from start to finish in one sitting every time!!

Mixed bag.
Illustrations are great; the printing of the book is high quality. But the writing is sophomoric, providing little to no illumination on the fashion houses. Would've given it three stars, but I was disgusted by how Hess glossed over the fact that Coco Chanel was likely a Nazi informant, describing it as "an affair with a German officer."

Lovely book .
This is a lovely book for anyone interested in fashion or illustration. Beautiful illustrations , informative piece on each designer . Lovely gold edging on the book. The only fault is I thought it would be a little larger, I didn't check the dimensions but the size is very handy .
